Want to be an Angel?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Ah, the aftermath of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show… where statuses and tweets blow up with gym and diet complaints. We all want to be an angel, yes, but instead of killing yourself over nonsense ideas, try these 5 easy tricks to help you slim down just a little. We promise you’ll feel better amped and ready to go, even if your boyfriend won’t shut up about Adriana Lima.

Take the stairs – It might seem silly, but taking the stairs everywhere adds up! 30 minutes of stair walking can add up to losing 300 calories. So next time you’re rushing to class or up your apartment, sprint up the stairs rather than taking the elevator.

Cook your own meals – Restaurants usually serve 2 to 3 times more food than necessary when you eat out. They also sometimes use unhealthy additives to enhance their food, such as MSG. Instead, try making a meal yourself, and you’ll not only save money but you’ll save the calories!

NO SODA! – This is a big one, but it does the trick. Drinking even just a can a day adds up, so cut out soda all together. Not drinking soda saves more than 43,000 calories a year. Diet soda doesn’t help either, so do yourself a favor and ditch the cans and stick with water, or tea!

Eat more frequently – This might sound contradictory, but it’s what any trainer or nutritionist will tell you. The key is to just eat less at every meal. Eating 5 times a day will help you feel less hungry, which will allow you to eat smaller proportions every time. So rather than stuffing your face at dinner, have a few snacks before and after so you won’t go back for seconds.

Bring snacks with you – Wherever you go, pack a healthy snack option with you incase you get a small craving. This way, you’re not starving your body and just giving it enough energy to make it for your next meal. Snacking also fills you up, so you won’t be eating as much during meals.

See, that was easy. Adriana ain’t got nothin. Watch out boys, we might have a new angel heading your way.
