This week was busy with school and classes, but I was rewarded with a weekend trip to Switzerland. I’m so grateful for every new adventure I get to go on! Continue reading for a look into my week.

Monday, October 4th

Last night, I packed everything for the gym so I’d be ready to go in the morning, and I was so determined to go. So determined. I woke up 10 minutes before my alarm and I thought, “yes, I’m just going to wait until my alarm goes off and I’ll get up and go.” However, two minutes before my alarm went off, it started pouring rain outside, and I’m not talking about a light drizzle, I mean a downpour of rain, so I took that as my sign to go back to sleep and skip the gym. I didn’t feel that bad about it, because I definitely needed the extra sleep since I barely slept this weekend. Anyway, I finally got up at around 10 a.m. and I got dressed and made myself some avocado toast for breakfast. Then, I bought an Americano from my favorite coffee shop and I went to my first class of the day. After class, I’d usually go grocery shopping, but I really did not feel like it today, so I decided to just buy lunch and grocery shop another day. For the next few hours, I worked, read, and watched Tik Toks, and then it was time to go to my next two classes. After my last class ended, my roommates and I went to dinner at the restaurant around the block from our apartment, since it’s our favorite, and then we hung out with some friends at an Irish bar and played cards! It was a fun night, but I am exhausted and ready for bed.

Tuesday, October 5th

This morning, I actually did get up and go to the gym, and I had a great workout. Then I made my way to my favorite cafe to buy a coffee and pastry for breakfast, which were both delicious. I went to my first class of the day, and after that, I finally went grocery shopping. I cooked the chicken that I bought, which was weirdly thin, and then I ate it for lunch. For the next couple of hours, I worked for CU, commented on two discussion posts, worked on a paper and presentation, and studied for a test. My second class today was canceled, but I still met with my group so we could work on our class project. After some more studying and writing, I went to buy some shoes, because I wanted a new pair of sneakers so I don’t have to continue wearing the same pair of Air Force 1’s every day, and then one of my roommate’s and I went to get empanadas for dinner. They were very tasty, as empanadas usually are. After dinner, we walked to a cafe and hung out there for about an hour. I occupied my time by reading a book, even though I probably should have been studying, but oh well. Then we came home and I showered and went to bed.

Wednesday, October 6th

Today was busy and long but also flew by very quickly. I went to the gym this morning, then I bought a pastry and coffee for breakfast (I’m addicted), and then I went to my first class, where I did everything except pay attention to the lecture. Then, I came home and did some packing for my Zurich trip this weekend since I won’t really have time tomorrow. I also worked, studied for my test, and finished up my paper and presentation for tomorrow. Then, it was time to go to my last two classes. Mediterranean Politics was fine, but in International Business, I had to read an entire trade agreement, which was unbelievably boring. I was also starving so I was counting down the minutes until class was over. After that, I came back home and ate the chicken I cooked for dinner, and then I talked to my therapist. After therapy, I went to meet one of my roommate’s parents since they are in town, so we hung out with them for a bit, and it was nice! When we got home, I studied some more for my test that I have tomorrow, and then I headed to bed.

Thursday, October 7th

I was supposed to have a presentation today in my first class, but I woke up to an announcement from the professor saying that the class was canceled and the presentation was moved to next week. I could have slept in, but I had already made a reservation for the gym, so I got up and worked out. Today is one of my roommate’s birthdays, so on the way home, I stopped to buy her a coffee and croissant for breakfast, which she loved. For the next few hours, I studied for the test that I have later, finished packing, and worked. Then, it was time to go to class and take my test. The test was shorter than I expected it would be, and I think it went well, but all I could think about was how excited I was to be going to Zurich right after. When I finished taking the test, I speed-walked home, ate a sandwich, and my roommate and I hopped on the metro to the airport. We boarded our flight, which was great because they gave us complimentary chocolate (shout-out Swiss Airlines), landed, took the high-speed train to town, checked into our hotel, and went to bed.

Friday, October 8th

Today was our first day in Zurich, and boy, was it cold. We started off the morning with coffee and pastries from a nearby cafe, which became our go-to for the trip, and then we headed into the Old Town. On the way there, we stopped to overlook the lake, a view which I can only describe as breathtaking. We took photos, wandered around the streets, saw some famous landmarks and churches, and by about 2 p.m., we were wiped out. We got hot dogs for lunch and made the trek back to our hotel, where we rested for a few hours. Then, I had a craving for ice cream (as always) so we went to get some from a chocolate shop, and it was really good! After spending another hour relaxing at our hotel, we went to a bar for very expensive drinks and then headed to dinner: fondue. It was amazing, but there was so much of it. I was so stuffed. Also, my clothes still smell like cheese. But, totally worth it!

Saturday, October 9th

We were a bit slow getting up this morning, but once we did, we headed to the cafe we went to yesterday, and then we walked to a different part of Zurich along the water. Like yesterday, it was really cold, but it was very peaceful being in nature. We passed by the Le Corbusier house, which we actually learned about in our architecture class, and we saw a few other weird-looking sculptures. After walking six miles, we were starving, so we stopped for lunch where I got a very yummy pretzel sandwich, and then we went to our hotel to rest. I took a very quick nap and then we went to buy Swiss chocolate. Then, we went out for drinks again since we still had a few hours to kill before dinner, and while we were at the bar, a random German man asked me to join him for a spontaneous ball, an offer which I politely declined, but it did add a fun twist to the evening. Finally, it was time for dinner, which was at a traditional German restaurant. I had the best Wienerschnitzel of my life, I still cannot stop thinking about it. Then we walked back to the hotel and went to bed.

Sunday, October 10th

It was colder out today than it had been all weekend, so after our coffee and pastries, we headed over to the Swiss National Museum, where we spent three hours learning about Swiss history and seeing all sorts of collections and exhibits that they had there. We both enjoyed it, not just because of all it had to offer, but also because it provided us with heat. Then, we got lunch at the train station, where I got a pretzel sandwich again, and then, as reluctant as we were, we boarded the train to the airport. We got on the plane, landed in Barcelona, took the one-hour metro ride back to the apartment, ate dinner, and now we are heading to bed.

I am so lucky to have been able to go to Zurich, and I loved every minute of it, even though it was cold. I ate delicious food in a beautiful country, so I have no complaints. Thanks for reading and come back next week for week seven!
