FNO: Boulder Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Fall has finally graced us with its presence and that means one thing for the wonderful world of fashion, beautiful chaos. On Thursday September 8, 2011 this world was dripping with glamour. Whether it was those 4-inch stilettos you slipped into for the evening’s festivities or that big splurge you’re still marveling over, our world of retail made a killing. Fashion’s Night Out underwent its third annual celebration, an event started by Vogue in the midst of the recession in order to promote and support our retail communities. This fashion initiative occurred in over 250 cities and was an event heard ‘round the world.

If you thought all this fashion was reserved for the runways of New York Fashion Week, think again. Boulder celebrated their first ever FNO event, which was a huge success for many of our local retail stores. “I think it was a great marketing tool, just to get the word out about all the great local retail in Boulder and to get people in the store. I think it will be really good for business in the long run,” stated Heather Carp of Topo Ranch. Shoppers were provided with cocktails, live music, h’orderves, and of course a few deals here and there. So whether you walked away with some steals, or just had a good time, Boulder has officially become a part of this wonderful initiative. Fashion lives on, and that my friends can only mean good things.

Kristie Dunnigan is a junior studying business marketing at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was born in Montana and later moved to the beautiful state of Colorado. Country girl at heart yearning for a big city life, she recently spent 3 months living in NYC interning for Oscar de la Renta as an international and domestic sales intern (and has spent everyday since trying to figure out how to get back to that concrete jungle). It's that city strut and over the top street style fashion that this girl cannot get enough of. She is Vice President of the American Marketing Association Chapter at Boulder, and is currently interning at shopgoldyn.com to fulfill creative needs. When she isn't snowboarding, blogging, or enjoying the amazing friends and family that fill her days, you will probably find this old soul buried in a thrift store or nearest local flea market over indulging in the good life.
Ali Chastain is a sophomore majoring in Advertising in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at CU Boulder. Even though her passion is in Advertising, Journalism has always been a close second, which is why she is stoked to be a part of Her Campus! Originally from St. Louis, MO, she calls Boulder her home away from home. She is a part of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and is also employed at American Apparel. When she is not working or studying, she loves to run around her favorite trails in Boulder, stalk music blogs, and put her foodie-ness to the test at new restaurants.
