6 Reasons Why Being Single is Actually Awesome

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

1. That giddy feeling you get before you go out on Friday night in anticipation that you’ll meet a cute new guy.

Isn’t that the best?? I mean c’mon, we both know that it might not happen, but it’s still exciting to make yourself look smokin’ before you hit the Hill.

2. You don’t have to juggle friend-time with boyfriend-time.

If you’ve ever been in a relationship, you know how hard it is to balance time with your friends with your boyfriend. If you’re single, guess what? More time is dedicated to your besties. Problem. Solved.

3. You can hang out with your other guy-friends without him getting super pissed.

What’s so wrong with having friends of a different gender??? Ugh.

4. You don’t have to deal with meeting the parents.

Am I wearing the right outfit? Did I say the right thing? Am I eating too fast? Too slow? These are some of the questions you might ask yourself while sitting at his parent’s dinner table. If you’re single, you can save yourself the stress by just ordering Hungry Buffs and pigging out on the couch like you normally do.

5. You don’t have to share food.

Go ahead, girl, eat that whole pizza you just ordered. Hopefully you remembered the Spicy Ranch.

6. Most importantly, you learn to love yourself.

Having someone there to tell you that you’re beautiful is definitely a nice perk. However, being single is an awesome time to learn to tell yourself that you’re beautiful. In the end, not having a significant other can ultimately help you improve your own attitude about yourself and make you an overall stronger woman.

If you’re single, take advantage of it! Focus on yourself and how awesome of a woman that you are. I’m not saying that being single is better than being in a relationship, but there are definitely a lot more than 6 reasons on why that’s true. Being single can teach you a lot about yourself and what you want in life. So go out there and take full advantage of the independent you. ☺

xoxo

When she's not making use of the beautiful terrain that Colorado has to offer, she can be found decked out in black & gold supporting her fellow buffs on gamedays. In her free time she enjoys catching up on Perez Hilton's daily articles and obsessing over the different wedding dresses featured on TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress."
