Let’s face it… we are all glued to our phones. The majority of us spend an embarrassing amount of time blankly staring at our screens. However, it doesn’t have to be all mindless scrolling. As busy college students, it’s time we take advantage of the technology we have at our fingertips.

With two million apps on the app store, there seems to be something for everything. Here are five apps to improve your life.

Circle of 6

Safety is key. Whether it’s walking home from the library or the hill, it’s nice to know you will be safe no matter what. This app was created with college students in mind to prevent sexual violence. On the app, you choose six friends/family members to join your “circle.” With just a tap of your phone, you can pin your location, request for your friends to call or text you.

Acorns

As broke college students, money is always on our mind, but not necessarily in a good way. If you’re anything like me, investing is like a foreign concept to me. However, Acorn makes investing easy. Look at it as a revamped piggy bank, as it collects your spare change. The app is tied into your credit card and rounds up your purchases to the nearest dollar and invests the spare change.

EasyBib

After finishing a long paper, the last thing you want to do is write a bibliography. It’s tedious and time-consuming, but it doesn’t have to be. The app also has a desktop version where you simply have to put in a website or book title and the app finds all the information you need. This app makes APA/MLA style simple.

ToDoList

This app is an online planner on steroids. It’s a one-stop shop for the organization. The app is cross-platform, so you can stay updated on your phone and computer. Never miss a deadline with it’s a helpful reminder and countdown features.

Hopper

This app helps you to book flights for the cheapest price. Simply you have to search the destination you’re looking for and it will show you how prices vary day to day. If you’re interested in a flight, the app will track the flight and tell you when to book. Never overspend on flights again!

Happy downloading!
