This Week’s Campus Celebrity: Gracie Pearlman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

Ladies and gents, meet this week’s Campus Celebrity: Gracie Pearlman. A sophomore at Conn, this celeb is known for her bubbly personality, big smile, and ability to make anyone crack a grin. Gracie is also heavily involved on campus, as you can find her attending meetings for SAC, SGA, OVCS, and theLOOK. Describing Gracie in one word, students said that she is “energetic,” “enthusiastic,” “fun,” and “fabulous.” We couldn’t have put it any better.

See what this diva had to say…

Dorm: Park
Major: Tentatively American Studies
Hometown: Havertown, Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia)

If you could be one celebrity, who would it be and why?
This is so hard because I kind of feel like there are a lot of them I would like to be… Maybe Beyonce because she is so talented, beautiful, happily married (so we all hope), and is now pregnant. I would also love to be Jimmy Fallon, because when you watch his show you can tell he is doing exactly what he wants to be doing. He’s also best friends with Justin Timberlake so then maybe that would blossom into love.

Best class you’ve had at Conn thus far?
So far, I’d say my American Studies class with Professor Downs. He is by far my favorite professor, and is so knowledgeable that it’s infectious.

Last week you interviewed Alice Maggin. How did you prep for the event? What was the most rewarding part of the experience?
I have always been interested in broadcast journalism, interviewing being a part of that, and so to prepare I did a lot of research on her. I read through her resume and information about her, and prepared questions based on what I read. I watch E! News a lot, too, which I think helped prepare me in terms of interview skills (as kind of pathetic as that sounds). The most rewarding part was getting through it, because although you have questions prepared, conversation turns and twists so you have to be on your toes and modify what you were planning on doing.

Can you tell our readers what you are involved in on campus?
On campus, I am the Presidential Associate for the Student Government Association, I am the Park representative for Student Activities Council, the Fashion Director of theLOOK Magazine, and I work for the Office of Volunteers and Community Service.

Most played song on your ipod?

My ipod isn’t really useful because I am technologically challenged and can’t figure out how to get my itunes onto my ipod…so my top songs on itunes are Hello by Martin Solveig, Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding, and Drop it Low by Ester Dean featuring Chris Brown.

Go-to study location in Shain?
If I want to be social, the second floor table by the windows, but if I want to buckle down then the tables by the back windows of the second floor.

What are you looking most forward to in your next two years at Conn?
I am looking forward to hopefully going abroad next year (to Ireland maybe), to meeting more people and expanding my relationships, and to getting to know my best friends even more than I do.

Where do you see yourself after college?
After college, I hope to save up money to pay off my student loans, which there will be a lot of, and I could see myself go in a couple directions; I would like to enter the entertainment industry in some way, event-planning, Public Relations for a company, or go to graduate school for business. Basically I am saying I have no idea and am kind of petrified…but there’s always options!
