Amazon Pick Up Storage in Crozier Williams

New Amazon lockers have appeared in Crozier Williams this week, following a month of long lines in the mailroom. Now students who order on Amazon will be able to pick up their packages by entering a code and skip the line. Yet, the appearance of the company’s logo has brought criticism from students who oppose Amazon’s involvement with ICE deportations. The Student Government Association addressed these concerns in an email on September 15th, stating:

‘With the installment of the new Amazon lockers, the SGA discussed Amazon’s involvement with ICE in using its software and technology to identify and deport undocumented immigrants in the US. The consensus was to inform the student body about what they may not know about the products they are consuming to create a more conscious campus regarding hot-button issues.”

First Vaping Death in Connecticut

Last week, the first person in Connecticut with ‘lung illness related to vaping’ died last week, according to The Day. It is unclear how many students on campus vape, yet the purchase of the product among 18-24 years olds has doubled between the years 2017-2018 according to the Hartford Courant. Connecticut College policy stands with state law, which prohibits the sale of tobacco or e-cigarette products to those under the age of 21. The College has yet to advise students who are 21 years of age against consuming vaping products.
