When did you start doing art and what has continued your interest? What type of art do you specialize in?

Art has been a passion of mine since I was little but it really developed in High School. I am concentrating in Printmaking and have developed a love for Photography.

Did you study abroad? If so, how did this experience influence you as an artist?

I studied abroad spring semester junior year in Paris, France. It was an incredible experience and everything around me influenced my art. The people in Paris fascinated me becoming the subjects for my Honors Thesis this year. Specifically, my Photography course prompted the foundation of my work.

You are doing a senior thesis. Can you tell us more about it?

My thesis ties my interest in Anthropology with my enthusiasm for Art. It is a discussion on identity and portraiture, pinpointing an idea of the hidden/masked identity that lies with the strangers we interact with everyday as we walk down the street. The base of my work starts with a liquid Light emulsion photograph that was taken of strangers on the streets/cafes/parks of Paris.  This photograph is presented on fabric and is finally sealed with beeswax as its mask.

How else are you involved at Conn?

I have played Field Hockey for four years at Conn and enjoyed every minute I got to spend with a great group of friends. I am also involved with the SAB – Art Department in the search for new Art Professors.

What will you miss most about Conn?

I will miss my friends and the friendly and comforting atmosphere of Conn.
