You Better Work! Gagging About Season Three of “Drag Race”

Anybody who knows me knows I am absolutely obsessed with “Rupaul’s Drag Race” seasons one and two, and I am extremely ecstatic about season three, and it’s only just begun! Hands down I have to give the winners from seasons one and two, Bebe Zahara Benet and Tyra Sanchez, their props because they worked it during their seasons. I became a fan of the show even more last summer when “RuPaul’s Drag U” first premiered. This show only made me fall in love with some of my favorite drag queens even more, like Raven, Jujubee, Pandora Boxx, Shannel, Ongina and Morgan McMichaels, to name a few.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Three” premiered on Jan. 24. As excited as I was about the new queens and seeing RuPaul and Santino Rice again as two of the three judges, there was one thing I wasn’t too thrilled about. A woman by the name of Michelle Visage replaced judge and fashion journalist Merle Ginsberg, and I was shocked! It was like replacing one of the judges on “Top Model,” and we all know Tyra has been good for doing that on more than occasion. Apparently Ginsberg left to pursue other job opporunities, and I’m assuming Visage, who was a co-host with Ru on “The RuPaul Show,” just needed a paycheck. Eh, she hasn’t impressed me yet.

Anywho, depsite this new judge, who seems to almost have an attitude as fierce as the drag queens, I’m still gagging over the eleganza of this show! So far, my favorites from season three are Mariah, Raja (who ironically was a makeup artist on “Top Model” for quite sometime better known as Sutan Amrull, Stacey Layne Matthews and Delta Work. Oh, yes. One queen I forgot to mention who came about as another shocker to myself and I’m guessing other fellow contestants was the return of Shangela Laquifa Wadley (for those who don’t watch or keep up with the show, she got eliminated in the first episode of season two).

Shade was being thrown left and right when she returned, but Ru didn’t just let her come back, she actually auditioned and said she had something to prove. She’s been doing quite an admirable job so far! I’ve already been hearing rumors Raja wins the whole competition, but I guess I’ll have to wait until the final episode and for the remaining two queens to lip-synch for their lives! I know I’ll be gasping for my breath!
