What I’m Looking Forward to Most When I See Lana in Chi

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Chicago chapter.

Lana Del Rey has been my favorite artist since I was 14 years old, and I am now 21. She’s always been who I turn on when I’m having a sad girl fall, cruising with my best friends or just getting ready for a night out. The versatility; go off queen.

Lana announced an extension to the Midwest for her Norman F–king Rockwell tour on Oct. 9, and the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago was on the list! I knew finally, after all these years, no matter what I needed to go see her. And when the tickets went on sale Friday morning, I finally snatched some!

Lana is coming on Nov. 8, and I am absolutely ecstatic! Here is what I’m looking forward to most when I get to see the queen in person.

Being in the Presence of Lana Del Rey

The ethereal being that Lana is, I really don’t think I’ve fully grasped that I get to actually see her perform, let alone be in the same room as her! The energy will no doubt be amazing and something I will cherish forever.

Her Outfit!

Lana is known for pulling out the LOOKS on tour, and I can’t wait to see what she graces us with. Will it be a witchy top with some bell-bottoms? A maxi-dress? No matter what, she will deliver.

Hearing my Favorite Songs off of “Norman F–king Rockwell”

This new album might honestly be my favorite, and I hope to hear “The greatest,” “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have,” “F–k it I love you,” “Norman f–king Rockwell” and “Mariner’s Apartment Complex.” Really I’d be happy to hear anything.

My Faves from her Discography

“Ride,” “Radio,” “Blue Jeans,” “Ultraviolence,” “Off to the Races,” “National Anthem” and “Sad Girl,” are just a few of my faves that I hope to hear. I could really go on forever.

A Guest Artist She’ll Bring Out

Recently at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Lana brought out so many guests artists including Sean Ono Lennon, Chris Isaak and Adam Cohen. She performed a beautiful duet-rendition of “Chelsea Hotel No. 2,” with Cohen, honoring his late father Leonard Cohen. I could only imagine witnessing something like that live, and I hope she surprises us with someone as amazing as that.

Overall, I will be counting down the days until Nov. 8, and listening to her on loop until the night comes. I cannot believe I am lucky enough to finally witness such an amazing artist in the flesh, and someone whose meant this much to me for so many years.
