The Rushed Challenge

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Chicago chapter.

When Tia Love, founder of Women Rushed into Womanhood, a women’s support group on campus, decided she wanted to plan something for her birthday, she wanted to take the spotlight off of her and give back to others in the process.

Through her event planning project “Scattered Peaces,” she decided  to turn her birthday into a charity event and donate funds to an organization that supports the arts for children.

Tia came up with the idea to have a contest and the selected winners of Rushed and Her Campus to compete for a photo shoot that can be displayed in the exhibit.

Contestants competed by submitting a few paragraphs on what they felt they were Rushed in and how they conquered and/or how they plan to change their situation and still come out on top. The best three were chosen to have a photo shoot and a story in Her Campus.

And the chosen winner was LaDonna Carter, who had the courage to continue life after being “Rushed.”

She will enjoy a body massage, a photo shoot, and her story posted here.  Also, her photos will be displayed at Rushed one-year anniversary, being held at the Little Black Pearl Workshop, 1060 East 47th Street on May 13.

Congratulations LaDonna!
