What sport do you play?
Squash
How did you get into playing?
My best friend in middle school has played squash her whole life so I decided to try it out and I loved it. It is actually the most fun sport ever.
What is it like being a varsity athlete and a student?
It is a lot sometimes, you really have to learn how to manage your time, but I love it. It is also a nice way to get away from school for a while, and squash is a good stress-relieving sport.
What is your favorite aspect of the sport?
Apart from the fact that it is really fun, I also really love the team, and I like the fact that squash is an individual sport, but you still compete as a team (there are nine people on a team, so everyone plays their individual match, and then the team that wins five or more out of those nine matches wins).
When and where can we see you play?
I will be abroad in the fall, and the schedule for next year isn’t out yet, but we are probably going to have a lot of home matches next spring. We play at street squash, a facility at 115th between Malcolm X and 5th Ave.
What else are you involved in on campus?
I am also in Road Runners (I ran track and cross country in high school), and Theta sorority!
What are your summer plans?
I don’t actually know what I am doing this summer, but I will most likely be going to Sweden (that is where my parents are from) and working there (that is what I have done for the past two summers).
What are you looking forward to most next year?
Going abroad!! I’m going to Barcelona!
