Jenna Ferman: Almost 10,000 Miles Away and She’s Still a Campus Cutie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

Name: Jenna Ferman

Hometown: Abington, Pennsylvania

School/Year: Columbia GS/JTS Joint Program, 2016 REPRESENT

Major: English at Columbia, Bible at JTS

Relationship? Just waiting for that special someone ya know

Tell us a little bit about what you do on campus: MyNYC, Columbia/Barnard Hillel Israeli dance troupe Shalhevet, KOACH, and Alpha Chi Omega. I had a brief stint as a Columbia cheerleader during my freshman year. Also, I think it counts as involvement that I’m all about attending the ‘traditional’ events we have on campus, i.e I’ve never missed a tree lighting ceremony, Varsity Show, or Orgo night (except that one time I actually had a psych exam the next morning at 9 am, sorry I need sleep okay)

First thing you notice about the opposite sex: Humor and a positive attitude. Also the ability to walk as fast as I do.

Favorite food: I can’t pick just one–dark chocolate, cheese, peanut/almond butter (I go through a jar a week basically), gelato, and good bread.

Why Columbia? Not gonna lie, I’m here for the joint program and don’t think I could survive without the JTS community as well. Nonetheless, Columbia/Barnard Hillel is the best, and I love NYC and almost every class I’ve taken here. Also, I’ve met some pretty amazing people here.

Where can we find you on campus? You can’t; I’m abroad in Sydney for the semester! But normally, there’s no one place. I am always finding new spots in different libraries and different places to hang out on campus. I will say this: around lunchtime, you can often find me in line at Subs Conscious or Appletree preparing to stuff my face.

Favorite place in NYC: Central Park. I try to go a few times a week. It never gets old.

Celebrity crush: Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds.

Go to show to binge watch on Netflix: Gossip girl, Parks and Rec, the list goes on….actually Australia just got Netflix, and the selection of movies and TV shows here is so much better!! All of the best rom coms ever–bye bye internet allowance.

Three things you can’t live without:

  1. My family
  2. My dogs (two labs named Rocco and Nicky who are my everything)
  3. Chocolate. I really don’t think I could live without chocolate.

Favorite pastime: I love running all over the city. Also I love getting brunch with friends which often ends up happening at Toms, which is okay because their Florentine omelets are the BOMB.
