Dear Halle: The Light’s At The End of The Tunnel

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

1. What are some tips for getting work done over spring break?

That’s so cute! You think you’ll be doing work over spring break!  Are you planning on bringing your bio textbook to Puerto Vallarta?  Spoiler alert: someone is going to vomit on that textbook, and it’s probably going to be you (I hope it’s not a rental)!

If you are truly committed to the idea of being responsible and getting work done over spring break, here’s what you should do- for every 30 minutes of work you do, reward yourself with one complete Ken Burns mini-series.  If you’re a normal human being, you will fall asleep after the first 15 minutes of the 187,562-hour “The Civil War,” and suddenly school work will become much more appealing.  If, however, you are one of those rare individuals who gets off on civil war and baseball documentaries, then you are clearly Ken Burns in the flesh…and I’m confused as to why you’re reading Her Campus Barnard.

2. Whats the best way to start a Bumble convo?

The best way to start a Bumble convo is with a nice, light-hearted joke like “Donald Trump for President!” or “I’m pregnant and it’s yours!” These statements will really break the ice and make the guy feel comfortable opening up to you.  This exact method is actually how I snagged my ex-husband!

3. How do you meet people when you only hang out in the library?

Have you ever heard of the world-wide phenomenon called the Bend and Snap???  You plop yourself down next to a cutie, drop a pencil on the floor, and then drop it like it’s hot.

Just try not to break any noses in the process.
