Her Campus surveyed Colgate students about the hook up culture and how they feel about the men on campus. Here are some of the pulled results:
Main complaints about the hook up culture:
- 40.9% of those surveyed stated that their main complaint about the hook up culture was that hook ups only occurred when drunk. Is anyone surprised?
- 32% disliked how these males treated you after a hookup. Oh yeah don’t worry I’m fine walking from this frat in my 6 inch heels looking like a hooker from frat row to Gate House. NBD… GIVE RIDES!
- Close to 20% percent found that their main complaint is that the hook up culture makes them feel bad about themselves.
Lets talk about skills:
- 57% of ladies were less than satisfied with the sexual skills of the men on this campus… that is a serious problem.
Deal makers and deal breakers:
- 50% stated that being funny was the most attractive quality about a guy. Only 4 of the people surveyed thought looks were important. So if you think you’re so hot, it looks like you’re shot out of luck because it doesn’t matter.
- 40% said that the biggest deal breaker was when a guy is seen being disrespectful to another girl. Yup, we’re watching you.
- 57% of girls would prefer guys make a move by coming up and talking to them during the DAY.
When surveyers rated Colgate men based on solely looks they averaged a 7.48 out of 10
When it came to personalities, however, guys only managed to get a 5.62 out of 10
Guess what Colgate girls actually want from Colgate guys? HUSBANDS and BABIES!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding, in fact it is quite the opposite. Only 25% said they were looking for a serious or casual boyfriend. Most answered that they wanted casual hook up partners. Saying the word exclusive to a Colgate guy is pretty much like saying Voldemort to Hermoine. “Exclusive” does not mean I want to put a tracking device in your phone and have my friends watch you to make sure you don’t make eye contact with girls.
As I understand it, the purpose of being exclusive is to minimize drama and misunderstandings. To me it’s less of an emotional thing and more of a practical and safety thing.
The final question in the survey asked girls to rank which groups of guys on campus have they have had the best experiences with in general. This question did not mean who throws the best ragers or who has the hottest guys, it was an over all assessment of people.
