Our Top 5 Favorite Fashion Blogs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colby chapter.

Blogs are a fast and easy way to keep up to date on what is trending in fashion, beauty, accessories, cooking, and a slue of other categories. Style blogs in particular are important because they are an opportunity to not only stay in the know in all things fashion related, but a great way to pick up some tips and tricks from others. Reading a variety of blogs daily, weekly, monthly, or in your spare time can help make your style more dynamic. Most fashion blogs are simply picture blogs, which make them a breeze to scroll through and perfect for taking ideas from. With summer on the horizon everyone is sure to be cleaning out their wardrobes and tweaking their personal style for the new season. With so many blogs out there it is important to get a little taste of as many as possible to help with the process, so here are a few to start:

  1. The Sartorialist Noted as one of the most well respected blogs in the fashion industry, The Sartorialist was started by photographer Scott Schuman whose work has appeared in Vogue, GQ and other fashion magazines. His photographs showcase chic European street style at its finest, focusing on streamlined silhouettes, structured ensembles and the subtle statement made by simple, well-tailored pieces. http://www.thesartorialist.com/
  2. Style Bubble- Blogger Susanna Lau writes from London and offers up more commentary in her blog than in some others. She focuses on her tendency towards vintage and her affinity for statement platform shoes, pleated skirts and structured printed dresses. http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/
  3. Refinery 29- This blog is more like a website full of style tips, answers and suggestions in addition to being a blog. It has a more youthful feel than those like the Sartorialist, and offers up fashion advice suited specifically to the college student. You can also tailor your use of the site to different cities and catch up on the latest fashion news in blogs focused on Miami, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York respectively. http://www.refinery29.com/
  4. Fashion Toast- Rumi Neely has cultivated a distinct sense of personal style that she showcases in her blog FashionToast. Her photographs are always very well thought out and are as much as the individual clothes or accessories as they are about the total effect of her latest look. She does a great job of incorporating minimalist basics with more funky boho inspired statement pieces. http://www.fashiontoast.com/
  5. The Cherry Blossom Girl- Fashion student Alix posts pictures and comments on all things that inspire her whimsical, romantic personal style. Her blog is a combination of fashion and beauty looks along with inspirational photos. She lives and studies in Paris so her blog is also bilingual, appearing in French and English. http://www.thecherryblossomgirl.com/
