5 Ways to Not Study for Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colby chapter.

Procrastination. Everyone does it, but if you’re bored by your personal technique look no further. Here are 5 new ways to procrastinate for finals!

1. Christmas shopping

Make a list of everyone for whom you need to buy a gift. You will have to get these gifts eventually (right?), so why not shop for them online in between two subjects or take a trip into town to get materials to make DIY gifts for your friends. For great gift ideas, you can reference the Her Campus Holiday Gift Guide.

2. Pamper yourself!

In need of some relaxation? Who isn’t during finals week! It’s important to take care of yourself so you do not get too run down. So turn your room into a spa. Use a facemask or paint your nails while listening to soothing spa music. You can even make a homemade facemask (if you’re feeling ambitious). Some of our favorite songs are from Michael Bublé and John Mayer.

3. Take a quiz

Who would think that taking a quiz could be fun, right? But online sites like Sporcle, whose motto is “Mentally stimulating diversions,” can make procrastination good for your mind. Warm up your brain for history by taking the 50 states quiz or take a rest by opting for a pop-culture quiz. They have a holiday section to get you in the holiday spirit or you can take a quiz about pugs dressed up as famous people.  The topics are endless and you might even learn something.

4. Watch cats

Go to Procatinator.com and watch cats while listening to music. Just do it.

5. Decorate or clean your room

Though you are about to head home after finals, some holiday cheer never hurt anyone. Instead of being in a bah humbug mood due to the combination of your messy, un-festive room and the fact that you have exams to study for and papers to write, decorate and clean up, so that the only thing that could possibly get you down could be your work. So, hang some tinsel, lights or wall decorations, put on some holiday music, and drink some hot cocoa. You will be much more productive if your in a good mood and have holiday spirit.

Hang in there Colby Collegiettes, and procrastinate productively!
