5 Movies to Watch with Your Galentines

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CNU chapter.

Valentine’s Day is looming. For some, it’s just another day; for others, it’s a gross reminder of affection that interrupts your week.

This Valentine’s, I’ve decided to have “Galentine’s” with my best friends. We’re ordering pizza, sharing chocolates, and watching movies all night long. Want to host a Galentine’s movie party? Here are some contenders for your big night in.

1. Moulin Rouge

This is probably one of the most fantastic films ever. It’s got everything: music, drama, humor, and tragedy. It’s laughter-inducing and a tear-jerker at the same time. If you have some pretty avante-garde friends, this is probably the one for you.

2. (500) Days of Summer

I watched this film when I was in my “I love love” pre-teen/early teen phase. It’s a good thing because my taste in music is impeccable, but it’s a really interesting movie about love. I learned a lot from it. The film makes you laugh and cry at the same time, but also makes you think about your own life and relationships.

3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

This newbie has a well deserved place on this list. I haven’t loved teen romance and drama more than this since I binged Gossip Girl in high school. This adorable Netflix film explores everything from teen romance to personal confidence. What more could you want from a Valentine’s Day movie??

4. Silver Linings Playbook

This is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. JLaw and BCoop shine in this film. It’s the complete package. You like sports? It’s got it. Do you love family drama? It’s got that. Love an underdog story? It’s here. The main characters grow together and overcome some of the craziest challeges life has to throw at us, while making us laugh at the same time.

5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

This film is an absolute classic, and was my favorite Audrey film until I saw Funny Face. Although it is much different from the novella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s fabulously explores life and love in the Big Apple. Even if you aren’t into classic Hollywood movies, this one has something for everyone.
