Sweaters, Leggings and Scarves Oh My!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

While Spring Break is around the corner,  the cool weather is still lingering around- snow on thursday again anyone? Here are some ideal fashion staples you’ll want to keep hanging in your closet.

  1. Leggings– this is the most basic MUST have in every women’s wardrobe. Whether going to class or spending a night out with the girls, leggings are the best option. Not only are they super comfortable, but also they go with nearly everything! If you want to make a statement try a paint of Aztec leggings.

  1. Scarves– one of my favorite accessories for the colder weather is a scarf. The greatest thing about a scarf is how many different ways a person can wear it. Try a pattern scarf to add more color to a plain outfit or an oatmeal scarf to match a bright sweater.
  1. Oversized Sweaters-Nothing says comfort during the cold weather more than an oversized sweater. Pair it with leggings if you are going for the comfy look or match it with a skirt when going out with friends.

  1. Denim Shirt– a large denim shirt paired with leggings and a cute scarf is my go to outfit for class. Make sure you go for a size bigger than your normal shirt size for extra comfort. It’s an easy to do outfit and looks adorable when on.
  1. Fur Vest– what would the cold weather be without a fur vest? Buy a longer length one to pair with leggings and boots for a more edgy look. Not only will you be catching people’s eyes but also you will be super warm.

  1. Boots– cold weather and boots go together like peanut butter and jelly these days. Whether it is ankle boots paired with jeans or leggings matched with rider boots you are sure to be dressed to impress.

  1. Pea coat- During the colder weather months, it is the outerwear that matters most. Why not make a statement with a bright pea coat? It will add color to your outfit and also have your personality show through your clothing

  1. Sweater dress- Just because it is chilly outside does not mean you cannot wear a dress. A sweater dress is perfect for those days that you just do not want to wear pants. Pair it with knee high boots and a cute scarf and your set for the day.

  1. Colored Jeans– Tried of the classic denim jean color? Buy yourself a pair of colored jeans. Wine, mustard, hunter green, royal blue, brown and black are all trending right now. Go out and be different than the rest!
  1. Blazer- Want a more professional look? Get yourself a blazer. Layer it over a sweater with dress pants or a nice skirt for the full effect. Unsure what color to buy? Navy blue is a great option. It is not only very professional looking, but also matches everything.
