Overcoming Clemson Heat & Humidity In Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Clemson is especially hot and humid for August and most of September, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice looking good. Walking around campus, I’ve seen a lot of girls wearing oversized t-shirts and athletic shorts, but that isn’t the only way to be comfortable in this weather!

·      Try trading out that huge t-shirt for a tank top; your armpits will thank you, and you will avoid those pit stains!

·      Trade in your athletic shorts for a “flowy” skirt or dress to get some airflow. Not only will you feel a lot cooler, you will look super cute!

·      STOP straightening your hair everyday. In this humidity, it probably doesn’t last very long, so take this time to rejuvenate your hair. Learn how to braid your hair if you don’t know how to already because the braid trend isn’t going away! Braids also keep your hair out of your face during the day and are a lot cooler than having your hair down and sticking to your neck. Plus, when you take the braid out later in the day, you’ll have some awesome waves to go out!

·      Swap your backpack for a large tote if your books and laptop are not too heavy. Walking around campus with your backpack on can leave some pretty weird sweat marks on your back and shoulders, and your back feels extremely stuffy the whole walk to class! You also have a lot more freedom to bring in your own style when you are searching for a tote. There are expensive options, but there are also very affordable options, so just look around! TJ Maxx is bound to have plenty of options.

Good luck beating the heat! Go Tigers! XOXO
