Breaking the Rules: White AFTER Labor Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

You may have heard the common saying, “You can only wear white from Memorial Day to Labor Day.” Well ladies, what book is that rule in? There is no rule. Better yet, there is no book. This year’s latest fashion trend is all white. From white denim to white belts, white is the exception this year. White was flocking down the runway this year from designers; Michael Kors, BCBG, DKNY and Tory Burch, just to name a few at the 2013 spring fashion week.

The white fashion trend hit the runway this spring showcasing purity, cleanliness, and a change of pace. A clean palette is always a great way to start a new season, and white gives you that opportunity. There are several positives to wearing white ladies; white matches anything, you can glam it up or down, and it illuminates your beauty. You can find all different colors, styles, and textures of white pieces; so I’m sure you can find something to suite your wardrobe.

Now I understand that you may feel weird rocking white right now, but trust me it’s “the in” trend- just look how these stars rocked white at the Oscars. If you check out the department stores and boutiques you will see for yourself. Be bold, and go for the all white look. All you need is confidence and you are set to go. Since white is the new trend, you can wear it even longer now so why not go ahead and start adding to the closet! You can never have too much white; it’s a necessity of the wardrobe and this year a necessity for spring!
