As the semester winds down and we prepare to say goodbye to the class of 2016, we’re putting the spotlight on some of the fabulous members of the senior class! The first member of our Senior Series is Kayli Schulz. Read on to hear her favorite things about Clark and words of advice to underclassmen!
Name: Kayli Schulz
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Minor: Mathematics
Favorite Professor at Clark: Michael Satz in the Mathematics department
Favorite Class at Clark: Probability and Statistics or Organic Chemistry II
Favorite Spot to Study on Campus and Why: My favorite place to study on campus is the furthest back desk in the Science Library. I love this place because it’s both very quiet but also when you need a little break the window looks onto Red Square/the green and is alway entertaining to people watch.
Favorite Bistro Snack: I don’t go to the bistro too often because I live off campus, but my go-to meal is definitely a chicken patty basket with fries.
What has been your favorite thing about going to school at Clark?
My favorite thing about Clark is the people that I have met here. I’ve made so many friends from around the country and also have met so many professors that have been my mentors for the past four years.
What will you miss most about Clark?
I think that what I’ll miss most about Clark is my favorite thing about Clark which is the people I’ve met. I’m moving back to Seattle after graduation and I’ll miss being able to see my friends in person almost every day.
What clubs and activities were you involved with on campus?
I am the Co-Director of Dance Society and while I don’t participate in them, I love to watch all the shows that other students put on throughout the semester on campus.
What are your best words of wisdom for underclassmen?
My best advice for underclassmen is to be open to change in your life and in college. This change could be your friend group, your major, or your career path. It may be hard at first, but it will work out eventually.
What are your plans post-graduation?
After graduation, I am moving back to Seattle to teach Math and Chemistry at my Alma mater. I’m so excited to be going home, but I’ll miss Clark and all the people I have met greatly.
Thanks, Kayli!
