Cincy Spot: Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum

Do you love art and the outdoors? Combine your heart’s desires and visit Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum

Located 30 or so minutes outside of downtown Cincinnati lies Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park. Situated on hundreds of acres of land, Pyramid Hill combines winding paths with outdoor sculptures, ancient history museums, gardens, forest and more.

Though it is a bit of a ways outside of the city, Pyramid Hill is the perfect place to spend a fall afternoon. There is plenty to see so make a trip out of it! The cool part is that they offer “art carts” which are just golf carts that one can rent (must be 21 to drive one). Once you have rented your cart, you are free to roam the grounds. I highly recommend this, unless you are looking to hike of course, it is the easiest way to get around and see all there is to see.

Pyramid Hill also brings in different shows and exhibits time and time again. This Friday, David Gerena, will have his exhibit start in the ancient history museum. He is a New York artist who combines graffiti art with different techniques to produce some really cool results. I was able to see some of the pieces and let me just say, they are spectacular.

Admission for Pyramid Hill is on the lower side, 8 bucks for an adult and even less for kids. It is worth it compared to the amount of artwork and history held within the park.

In addition to the outdoor sculptures and exhibits, the ancient museum pieces are pretty outstanding. A lot of the pieces were produced around the 1-10th century AD and some even earlier. There are Egyptian, Roman, Greek and more culture’s pieces on display.

Before the park became what it was today, most of the original pieces belonged to the owner of the park who is now deceased. He was a very wealthy man and many of the pieces were in his own home collection. He even used a large mosaic piece from 3rd century AD as his coffee table before taking his pieces and putting them on display for the public.

Fun Fact: They have a cat on site named Pyramid who greets guests when they arrive. (She is super cute and friendly).

Check out Pyramid Hill before it gets to cold and you definitely will not be disappointed. To find out more, head to http://pyramidhill.org
