To The Friends I Hadn’t Seen In Months

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

Graduating high school meant saying goodbye to seeing you while you jetted off to colleges around the country. Gone were the daily lunches, after-school, and group chats blowing up while recounting our day. As exciting as it was watching you go after all the things you want to accomplish, it left a bittersweet mark knowing you wouldn’t be here with me daily.

College meant new friends and new experiences for both of us. Your life changed and evolved in new and exciting ways. I saw your life in Snapchat stories and too-short Skype calls, and you did the same. You adjusted to your new life, and soon I did too.

Soon break came along, and with it came the opportunity to finally see you in person. Mistakenly, it was accompanied by fears that you had changed and moved on from our friendship.

Those fears quickly dissipated. Soon the laughs trickled out just like they used to. The memories we made were shared as we told our college stories over and over again. We grew up, but we didn’t grow apart. To my friends back home, thank you for giving me the best reason to go home.
