5 Reasons To Wake Up Early

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

Waking up early can be painful, stressful, and just completely unpleasant.

You’ll have to pull your suddenly 100-pounds-heavier lump of a body out of bed, knowing that you are consciously CHOOSING to put yourself through this ordeal. And WHY? Why would you choose to leave those cozy baby blue sheets that mold to your body to create a cocoon that shields you from your worries and transports you to a dream world where your boyfriend isn’t a fuckboy?

1. For one thing, waking up early usually allows you to get more done. Sure, some of us are night people and are more productive in the evening. But either way, the earlier you wake up, the more time you have to do things. Haven’t you ever felt like the day went by too quickly? If you wake up even half an hour earlier, it’ll make a huge difference.

2. You won’t have to rush. Don’t you ever wish that you could find a way to get the maximum amount of sleep without having to plan your outfit and pack your bag the night before so you can make it in time to class? There is something very soothing about giving yourself time to ease into a busy day.

3. You’ll get to experience things you wouldn’t have seen if you were asleep. When’s the last time you saw a beautiful sunrise? When’s the last time you witnessed birds chirping, the earth stretching its arms and yawning, the universe waking up and starting its day? You’ll be glad you did.

4. You’ll wake up in time for breakfast. When you rush, you usually end up only snacking on an apple or protein bar and calling it breakfast. But breakfast has been proven to be the most important meal of the day. If you wake up early, you’ll allow yourself the time to eat a good meal and won’t be hungry again in an hour. People who eat large breakfasts instead of those who skip breakfast also lose more weight.

5. You’ll start your day off in a good mood, since you began with a full meal, didn’t have time to rush, and an endless cycle of happiness and good vibes will take over your life.

Waking up early can be hard, but the benefits are worth it. And once you start, your body will get into a natural rhythm and waking up early will be like breathing: effortless and providing you with life.
