5 Leonardo DiCaprio Movies to Rewatch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

Our dear boy, Leo DiCaprio, finally can be called an Oscar-winner for his role in The Revenant. So now is the perfect time to go back and rewatch a ton of Leo movies, right? Here are five movies to get your marathon started.

1. Inception

Starting with my personal favorite, this mind-bending action flick is well worth your time and has something in it for everyone. Action, suspense, romance, drama, psychological twists, and that absolute cliffhanger at the end. Leo plays a man desperate to clear his name and his conscious for pushing the line between dreams and reality too far. If you haven’t watched this one yet, put it at the top of your list right now.

2. Shutter Island

Definitely on the more twisted, psychological thriller side of cinema, Leo and Mark Ruffalo play a detective duo who find themselves on a strange island to investigate at a hospital for the criminally insane. As they spend more time there and the flashbacks keep coming, the story takes a turn for the worst with a twist that makes you question everything you thought you knew about the movie. If you can stomach the creepiness, give this one a try.

3. Django Unchained

While DiCaprio isn’t the main character in this one, he most definitely steals the show as Monsieur Candie, the cruel owner of a plantation and slaves, including Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), who is Django’s (Jamie Foxx) wife. When things come to a boiling point at Candie’s dinner and blood is shed, Leo becomes terrifying and you can only hope for Candie’s swift death. Another gory one, but definitely worth watching at least once if you can.

4. Titanic

Ahh, the classic love story between Jack and Rose. This one doesn’t need much say, but it still needed to be on this list. Plus, we always need another excuse to watch the Titanic over and over. You probably spend half the movie wishing you were Rose and the rest of it being angry because you KNOW they both could’ve fit on that block of ice.

5. The Great Gatsby

The more modern adaptation to the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald book is a fun watch, with DiCaprio playing the notorious Jay Gatsby. The heartache and betrayal in the story is felt by all, leaving you wishing this one had a happy ending. Alas, the silver lining in this film is all the brilliant performances.

What are your favorite Leo films? Is there any film not on here that you love?
