Teen Vogue and Her Campus Back to School Saturday Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for the collegiettes who scored tons of free goodies at a Teen Vogue trunk show at Editor-in-Chief Chelsea Capps’ house last week.

As part of their Back to School Saturday (#BTSS) event, Teen Vogue sent tons of great merchandise to Her Campus chapters across the nation. Anyone could participate and score exclusive, free items.

What was the catch? The only requirement was to complete social media promotional tasks, a small price to pay when we’re on Instagram all day anyway! The person who represents their fab finds the best on social media using the correct hashtags even has the chance to win a spot at Teen Vogue’s competitive Fashion U program.

Leading up the event at UNC, the Her Campus team worked to publicize it via Facebook and personal social media. People began arriving about 10 minutes before the event was scheduled to start, chatting and eyeing items from the impressive spread.

Jimmy Choo Perfume, ASOS, Vera Wang Fragrances, St. Tropez, Nasty Gal, Herbal Essences, H&M, Murad, Maybelline, and many more popular brands offered full size samples and products. And of course, everyone made sure to grab a few free Teen Vogue magazines before they left!

The atmosphere was lively and friendly- but free samples couldn’t last long in a room full of collegiettes! The event began at 4 p.m., and everything was almost completely cleaned out after about 25 minutes. It was the perfect way to end a long week and kick off a great weekend!
