Say Goodbye to Stress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Ever feel like you have way too much on your plate? You’re not alone. Whether it’s too many exams, papers, group projects, social activities, club meetings, work assignments or a combination of everything, these tips will help you say goodbye to (at least some of) your stress.

1. Stay organized and plan in advance.

Start studying and begin assignments weeks before you need to. Clean your room before the beginning of each week. At night, write everything you want to accomplish the next day. Focus on one day at a time. Don’t be afraid to make lists! Your future self will thank you.

2. Moderation is key.

Treating yourself after a hard day of work is important to prevent burn-outs! Whether it’s a few hours of Netflix before bed, grabbing a meal or drinks with friends or an evening of shopping, it’s beneficial for your well-being to escape your responsibilities for a little while

3. Sneak in spa time!

Try homemade face masks, mani and pedis, bubble baths or even relaxing music.

4. Fit in that workout.

You don’t have to go to the gym religiously to reap the benefits of working out. However, fitting in at least two workouts a week is a great way to relieve stress and stay healthy.

5. SLEEP. (If impossible, coffee.)

This is the secret ingredient to success. Inevitably, when it’s impossible to get a full night’s rest, feel free to turn to your favorite caffeinated friend to get you through the day.

Although we all get overwhelmed at times, it’s important to remember to put things in perspective and know that your health and well-being comes first. However, when daily stressors creep into your life, these tips will help you succeed at productively handling stress.
