Autumn is in the Air

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

You might have already thrown this year’s Halloween costume into the trash, but the fall season isn’t finished yet!  Even if you don’t get the chance to take a road trip to the North Carolina mountains for a true camping trip, you can appreciate autumn around the UNC campus.  The crisp air, colorful leaves, cooler weather and plethora of pumpkins provide a perfect setting for a bonfire with friends.

Fired Up: Just grab some girls and guys (preferably some former Boy Scouts who know how to handle fire), roast marshmallows (don’t forget the graham crackers and chocolate for s’mores) and sip apple cider or hot cocoa.

Scooping Out the Insides: A pumpkin carving contest adds to the evening’s entertainment.  Toast the pumpkin seeds afterwards for a salty snack.

Get Pumped: The pumpkin carving is complete.

Burn, Baby, Burn: The Jack-o’-lantern is displayed outside for everyone to admire.
