Offset

Kiari Cephus, better known to the public as Offset, has jumped into modeling and he’s making noise.  The rapper made his first appearance on the runway in Jeremy Scott’s Spring/Summer 2019 show during NYFW. He made no prior announcement to the public that he was doing the show. His outfit consisted of boots of lime green pigment, a hot pink pokemon sweater accompanied with bright blue pants. It’s no secret to the public that rapper Offset often talks about wearing blinding diamonds and the finest garments available. Offset is expanding his horizon’s and his star quality is being pushed to the forefront. According to essence Tiffany Haddish, Quavo, his wife Cardi B. as well as his mother were there to cheer him on. Haddish follows up after the show saying,  “I enjoyed the show… I had a great time and loved the collection. [Offset] did a great job”. I don’t know if this is the start of something new for Offset, but maybe he should keep it up considering the rave reviews he’s receiving.

Sheck Wes

Khadmou Rassoul Cheikh Fall, known as Sheck Wes, has been modeling for a couple of years now. Most people are familiar with his hit song ‘Mo Bamba’ produced by 16yrold. The rapper is signed, jointly, to Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Records along with Kanye West’s GOOD Music Record labels. Recently Wes has modeled Helmut Lang’s collection and it has been said that it was his highest-profile gig since the Yeezy Season 3 show. His joint deal is partially a result of his performance in the Yeezy show In an interview with the fader Sheck Wes explains that he skipped his playoff game to make it to the show. He starts off by singing “I skipped my game for the fashion show, one of my best decisions…”, and continues by saying, “So, I skipped out on one of my playoff games for my team and went to Season 3, and that’s what really made my relationship with my coach the worst…” While juggling basketball and modeling he still managed to incorporate music into his agenda. On October 5, 2018, Wes released his debut album, Mud Boy. In the midst of it, all Sheck Wes has managed to walk for Pyer Moss as well as John Elliot and Louis Vuitton. Something is telling me we will see a lot more of Sheck Wes on the runway in the forthcoming seasons.

Steve Lacy

Lacy strutted the runway of Virgil Abloh’s first Louis Vuitton show wearing a sheer white shirt with a white baggy pant. Lacey is known as the bass player for the band, The Internet, and also has a big part when it comes to their production. He is also responsible for some grammy nominated records for Goldlink, Tyler the Creator, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar to name a few. In an ESSENSE interview when asked about how he felt post LV show this is how he answered, “ I live in the present always. So, it’s a blessing and a curse. Every once in a while, I’ll be like, “Whoa, that’s crazy.” But, it’s quick and then I forget about it. I guess it was pretty big, though. I didn’t expect opportunities like that. I’m a band geek at heart, so when s*** like that pops up, I’m like, “That’s cool. Sure. Let’s do it.” I feel like Jim Carrey in Yes Man, I’m just open to opportunities…” I’m sure Steve Lacy will continue taking advantage of the amazing opportunities that are being tossed his way. He is definitely someone you should keep your eyes on.

Christian Combs

Most people know Christian as a mogul, P.Diddy’s, son. Christian, 19 years old, has left it all on the runway in Dolce and Gabbana’s Spring/Summer (18) campaign. The up-and-coming artist is already proving himself by balancing the two, modeling and rapping. Combs is currently signed to Epic records as of right now. It was a shock to the public when his mother, Kim Porter, recently passed away in a sudden manner. I’m sure it is hard for such a young man to wrap his mind around everything that is happening right now, but I’m sure his mother would be proud nonetheless. While Combs and his father were featured in a Vogue magazine spread recently and he made his appearance on the Milan Fashion Week runway, I’m sure this won’t be the last of Christian Combs.Playboi Carti

It’s no secret that Playboi Carti has blessed many runways. Carti, born Jordan Carter, is known for his hit songs Magnolia, Woke Up Like this (ft.Lil Uzi), and Shoota (ft. Lil Uzi). Although Carti is dominating the music game right now, he doesn’t limit himself to only being a rapper. His most recent runway was that of Louis Vuitton as he closed the show for Virgil Abloh, the brands’ artistic director for the men’s collection. Abloh chose a variety of musical influences for the show considering music is another one of his many talents. Names such as Kid Cudi, Dev Hynes, ASAP Nast, Steve Lacy, and Sheck Wes were apart of the experience. In an interview with Vogue Carti talks about the significance that the show holds, “This is black history,” Carti explains. “It’s monumental. This is Louis. This is the top dog. No disrespect to Vetements, but my mom, my dad, my auntie, my great-grandmother know what Louis is.” Post-show he followed up saying, “I was just trying not to laugh,” he continues by saying,  “Straight face. That’s the only thing you can do. You can’t fall.” Carti will continue to be a familiar face on many runways.
