Taylor Swift is a household name for the past decade, being not only known for her great capacity of storytelling and making people connect through her songs, but also for the many records that she has broken.

THE BEGINNING

From the beginning, when she was just a seventeen-year-old girl and released one of her first singles “Our Song”, in 2006, she became the youngest artist to have written and performed a number one song in the Hot Country Songs chart.

Names as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Madonna are just some that Taylor has surpassed in the American Music Awards! She holds a striking number of 34 awards, being also recognized as “Artist of the Decade” in 2019 for the AMAs and performed a medley of her most known songs.

(TAYLOR’S VERSION)

Even when she lost her rights to her first six albums, her re-recordings were not left behind by her fanbase. When Red (Taylor’s Version) was released in November 2021, swifties made her break Spotify’s record of most-streamed album in a day by a female artist, with 122.9 million streams. In the next year, she lost her position to herself! In 2022, with the release of Midnights, she reached 184.7 million streams on the platform, proving once again that she is the music industry.

MIDNIGHTS

This was not the only record Midnights has brought to her, she also became the only artist to ever claim all top ten entries on The Billboard Hot 100, with Anti-Hero as lead single, in just a week. Not to forget that she literally broke the internet when she dropped this album! With thousands all around the world sending Spotify a report saying there was an internet outage due to overloading the page.

THE ERAS TOUR

On June 2nd, Taylor announced what would be her biggest tour so far: The Eras Tour. In this concert she would go through all her records, from the self-titled debut to her last recordings, with 3 hour shows! And in some of these dates, more than one opening act, with names such as Phoebe Bridgers, Gracie Abrahms and Paramore.

However, no one thought that buying the tickets would be compared to a war (with some even calling it “The Great War”!). Not only there weren’t enough tickets for the millions of fans, the scalpers didn’t help the situation. In the United States TicketMaster, the website where you could buy the tickets, even went to court due to this circumstance. It wasn’t much different in Brazil, with over 1 million being in the physical and virtual line and not getting their tickets.

BUT WHY SHE BREAKS SO MANY RECORDS?

With Taylor in this industry for about 17 years, she has been able to create a loyal and unique fan base (so-called swifties). Some of them saw the release of her debut album and others started listening to her music with her re-recordings. Besides that, having in her discography country, folk, pop, rock and alternative she was able to connect with different people from the most diverse backgrounds, due to her naturality of going from one music genre to another.
