Meet 5 Casperians That Have A Blog Or A Youtube Channel

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

Having a blog or a YouTube channel can be a great way to express yourself and possibly a big step for a career in the world of communication. Here are a few graduates from Cásper Líbero University who run very interesting domains.

1. Sofia Lollato

YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/oisousofia

Age: 19 years old

Course: Radio, TV and Internet

Home Town: Ribeirão Preto

Her Campus: What is the channel about?

Sofia: Everything, but mostly about my life experiences.

HC: How was this project “born”?

S: Kind of accidentally! I started recording videos and posting them on YouTube to talk to different people. I was going through a rough phase, so I was looking for new friends and for a new way to express myself and verbalize my issues.

HC: How does this affect your life (positively or negatively)?

S: Well, negatively, I end up exposing my life too much and there is this pressure surrounding the fact that many people follow you. Positively, though, I know that my videos help many people to deal with their problems. And I get gifts from stores, so that’s pretty cool too.

HC: Do you have any plans for the future of this project?

S: I don’t have many specific plans, but I intend to keep working on it, regardless of the financial income. I’m not in it for money or fame. I just like talking to people and helping somehow.

Her Campus: What is the blog about?

Gabriela and Isabella: In Madamices, we focus on fashion, beauty and lifestyle, but we also talk about entertainment, decor, and other subjects!

HC: How the project was “born”?

G and I: We met at Cásper and became best friends. We have many interests in common and we shared the same wish: to create a blog. So, we dived into making that come true and, in the end of 2015, our blog was launched!

HC: How does this affect your life (positively or negatively)?

G:  I think that if it weren’t for Isa, I wouldn’t have done this on my own. Also, I’ve always been very shy, and through writing for Madamices I found a way to be more confident. It’s so good to have the freedom to talk about what you love with others who also enjoy these subjects.

HC: Do you have any plans for the future of this project?

G and I: We will try to maintain a good frequency of posts, which is very challenging since we are in our last year of college. We really wish for the blog to grow to the proportion that it becomes our Job. After all, there is nothing better than working with what we love!

3. Laís Souza Lima

Age: 25 years old

Course: just graduated in RTVI

Home town: Camanducaia (MG)

Her Campus: What is the channel about?

Laís: Lifestyle and Taboos.

HC: How was this project “born”?

L: The channel was born in 2015 and used to have another anchor, besides myself. We talked about general subjects of daily life and created funny situations based on them. A kind of Depois das 11 (another YT channel), with chroma-key and everything. In 2017, the channel became the final project of my graduation. I became a solo anchor and rearranged the structure and theme of the project.

HC: How does this affect your life (positively or negatively)?

L: The project ceased to be just a project when it became my final assessment. I gave it everything I had and invested so much in it. I had to rearrange and reformulate many things, including my personal life, in order to keep up with the schedule and posting two videos every week. I had to work, study for other subjects, create, produce and edit the content of the channel. I admit that by biggest lesson was learning how to deal with the frustration of not achieving my goals sometimes. My daily hours were just not enough to do everything. I was completely overwhelmed. I had anxiety and was beginning to become depressed and had stopped taking care of myself. Today, I know that anything can work, if you pay attention to your wellbeing. I learned how to manage my time better, and to invest some of that time into things that make me happy. Our lives already have so much pressure – we don’t need an extra boss inside our heads. Maybe a partner, but not a boss. I have matured and learned so much from this experience.

HC: Do you have any plans for the future of this project?

L: This year, I’m trying to get some rest (last year was crazy) and to rethink Canal AFF’s routine and planning, so that I don’t feel overwhelmed like I felt before. I am recreating some of the format and adapting the production of the videos into my routine. Until the end of this semester, I intend to get the channel active again, with regular posting. Even though it’s a relatively new channel, I believe that the feedback I get from the audience helps me to keep going. This exchange is so valuable. I am excited and optimistic about the future of the project!

4. Melissa Ery

Blog link: https://choosemelissablog.wordpress.com/

Age: 22 years old

Course: Advertising and Marketing

Home town: São Paulo

Her Campus: What is the blog/channel about?

Melissa: Lifestyle, travel and photography.

HC: How was this project “born”?

M: In 2012, I was in the last year of high school and thinking about majoring in fashion design in college, because my dream was to write for a magazine. As a “trial” I created the blog to write about fashion, but eventually I also started to write about other things and, in 2015, when it became mostly about photography, lifestyle, DIY and travel, it started to grow very significantly. I created a YouTube channel to talk about these things as well. In that same year, I had a huge problem: the person who was responsible for the domain of my website lost all the content up to 2015. I restarted from scratch and keep posting until today (a little less frequently than before, though).

HC: How does this affect your life (positively or negatively)?

M: It has an immensely positive effect on my life, especially on my career. I received a few jobs offers because of it and nowadays I am the author of a column in Capricho magazine, and I made many new friends because they read my blog.

HC: Do you have any plans for the future of this project?

M: When I graduate, I intend to invest more on my blog and the channel. It’s not what I intend to have as a main job but it’s something that I love to dedicate myself to.
