The arrival of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel last year further increased fans’ excitement for the continuation of the anime, after the end of the first part in March 2021. Now, with the release of the second season, it couldn’t be any different. The new arc (term used to refer to a specific ongoing story during the anime) that began on July 6th, with episodes released every Thursday, promises to continue with the same frequency, following the structure of Gege Akutami‘s manga.

Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc

The first five episodes of the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” flashback arc go back to a time even before the film and tell the story of how Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto – when they were just young students – needed to come together on a mission to protect Riko, a girl who is actually the receptacle of Star Plasma. In addition to the engaging and well-crafted animation from the MAPPA studio, it is possible to satisfy your nostalgia with humorous scenes and lots of action already in the first episode released.

This excerpt works with several moral and ethical dilemmas, in addition to delving deeper into the past and personality of one of the most beloved characters in Japanese animation: Gojo, showing a much more powerful and serious side, different from what we’ve ever seen before. These initial episodes are fundamental to understanding the arc that comes next, the “Shibuya Incident”, as well as the motivations of the villains and how the events in the past will affect each of the characters around their former colleagues.

The wait was really worth it and we can prove it! The public’s reception was so great that in the first month of release, TikTok was full of videos and edits about not only the anime itself but, mainly, the two characters. Getting to the point where one of the trends was answered by Ricky Montgomery, after having several mentions involving the duo Gojo and Geto with his song “Mr. Loverman.”

Shibuya Incident Arc

Between the fifth and sixth episodes, there was a three-week hiatus to prepare one of the most important, violent and decisive arcs of Gege Akutami’s manga, now animated. The “Shibuya Incident” arc began on the 31st and is scheduled to end at the end of the year, in December. The narrative thread returns to the present – from the conclusion of the first season – and portrays the trap devised by Geto and other cursed spirits to capture Gojo, after a curtain falls around the Shibuya district, prisoning hundreds of civilians during the Halloween celebration.

Without revealing too many spoilers, the new season already has small plots in each episode released that develop cautiously towards the chaos that is about to emerge. The return of the trio Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki finally manages to satisfy fans who haven’t seen them on the screen since the end of the first season. Furthermore, the fights and even the music attract attention and new viewers to better contemplate the development of the hero Itadori and what fate holds for the invincible sensei Gojo.

While the weekly excitement takes over, you can check out all the releases and episodes now available on Crunchyroll. The film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is also included in the streaming catalog.
