Why “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” Will Be Your New Favorite Show

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Case chapter.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is Tina Fey’s latest creation, starring Ellie Kemper.  The show centers around Kimmy, a girl from Indiana who, after being kidnapped and held as a prisoner by a mysterious reverend, is freed.  She decides to move to New York City and follow her dreams of living life to the fullest.  You can watch the trailer here.

If you’re still on the fence about whether or not to dive in to the series, here are a few reasons why you’ll not only like it, but it’ll be one of your new favorite shows.

The Clothes

Sometimes, all you need is some wardobe inspiration.  Kimmy Schmidt’s clothing will make you want to go outside and play in some daisies.  Kimmy’s friends also sport some pretty stylish ensembles, too.

The Cast

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt features a hilarious all-star cast, including Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess, and Carol Kane.  With that many amazing actors on board, the show is bound to have a little something for everyone.  Not to mention, there are a few guest stars who come into the show later on in the season that you definitely don’t want to miss!

The Humor

Anything Tina Fey touches is just undeniably hilarious.  The show will leave you laughing long after you’ve finished the season.  You’ll be quoting the jokes in this series for a while.

The Attitude

The whole series is pretty much about being positive even in the worst of situations.  Kimmy’s optimism and strength throughout the series is pretty contagious.  You’ll be ready to take on whatever life throws at you after binge-watching all 13 episodes.

The Feminism

One of the most noticeable (and awesome) aspects of the show is how much girl power there is.  Pretty much every female character is independent and original in some way.  Even the show’s theme song (here) is all about the strength of women.
