4 Beauty Swaps to Make for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Case chapter.

It’s finally that time of year again; Time to switch out your flip flops for boots, shorts for leggings, and tee shirts for sweaters. Here are four parts of your beauty routine that you should also be switching up for fall.

1. Bronzer for Blush

I know it can be difficult to watch the last bit of summer sun fade away, and it can be so tempting to keep a faux glow going throughout the fall months with the help of bronzer. However, nothing is more unnatural than being the girl with the tan face in the middle of October. By swapping out bronzer for a new shade of blush, you can continue to add some color to your face without looking like an Oompa Loompa.

2. Black eyeliner for a Jewel-tone Shade

So clearly black eyeliner will always be a classic makeup staple, but it’s easy to fall into a rut. Mix up the routine by trying a new jewel-tone shade for a subtle pop of color. Purple looks great for brown-eyed girls, while green can intensify hazel and a royal blue will emphasize blue eyes.

3. Lip Gloss for Lip Stick

Lip stick can seem a little intense or overwhelming at first, but once you get over the initial shock factor, you will never want to go back to gloss. Not only is it much longer lasting and much less sticky, it drastically cuts down on the time needed to do your makeup in the morning (aka, more time to sleep) and instantly pulls any outfit together. I personally swear by a plum shade, but you can’t go wrong with a more subtle pink or a classic red.

4. Bright Nail Polish for a Neutral

While you are amping up the rest of your fall makeup, take the opportunity to turn down your nail polish. Stick with a more basic color, such as red, or try a more trendy dark brown. This will serve as the finishing touch to pull your new routine together for the new season.
