DIY Valentine’s Day Gift For Your BFFs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Carleton chapter.

1. Bath Bombs

Show your BFF how much you appreciate all that they do for you with a gift that requires relaxation! These do take at least 36 hours of setting time, but they don’t take much time to prepare and they require few ingredients.

2. Candy Bouquet

This gift is perfect for the candy lover in your life. To make this cute bouquet, simply start off by gathering your supplies:

  • A plastic cup
  • Boxes of their favourite candy (chocolate bars, gum, and any other candy you can think of)
  • Barbeque skewers
  • A piece of Styrofoam
  • Tissue paper and tape.

Once you have your supplies, cut the Styrofoam to the size of the bottom of your cup and place it in the bottom. Next, tape the boxes of candy to the outside of the cup. Make sure that the boxes are the same size of the cup, if not you can cover it with tissue paper.

Begin taping your candy to the barbeque skewers. When you have completed that, add the tissue paper to your cup, making sure that there is space to put in the skewers.

The final step is to insert the skewers with the candy taped to it into the Styrofoam, making sure that the skewers are hidden.

3. Marshmallow Pops

This is a gift you can create even if you live on residence with a few simple supplies. You will need:

  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate melts
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Sucker sticks
  • Candy of your choice
  • A bowl

Start by melting your chocolate melts in the microwave. Once you have completed this step, dip the end of a sucker stick into the chocolate and insert that same end into a marshmallow. This will keep it attached when you dip it into the chocolate, which is the next step. Once your marshmallow is dipped, you can add sprinkles if you choose. Place them in the fridge to harden.

When the chocolate is hardened, fill the bowl with your candy and begin placing your marshmallow pops into it.

4.  Pretzels Kisses

This is a perfect gift for that friend who loves salty and sweet snacks. When these are put into a jar with some ribbon on it, they make the perfect DIY Valentine’s Day gift!

Start by placing pretzels on a cookie sheet and adding Hershey hugs or kisses on top of them. You can also substitute these for her favourite chocolate.

Put the sheet into the oven long enough to start to melt the chocolate. When you take them out, place a candy on the already melting chocolate so that it covers the entire top of the pretzel.

Finish off the gift by placing them into a jar and decorating it with Valentine’s Day stickers and ribbon.

5. Wire Heart Jewelry

This is perfect for the friend who never leaves the house without one piece of jewelry. It doesn’t require many materials and it is a quick DIY that is sure to impress. To get the full tutorial, go here.

My name is Makayla and I'm a first year Journalism student at Carleton University. I'm from a city in New Brunswick called Saint John (otherwise known as the Port City). Before writing for Her Campus I wrote articles for the Telegraph Journal: a provincially recognized newspaper and while doing so I got to interview some well-known people. When I'm not reading or writing I enjoy watching hockey, going to the movies, and spending time at the zoo that I worked at this summer, giving tours and working with some of the animals.
