What You Can Do To Practice Self-Care At Night

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Once I have finished eating dinner and completing my homework for the day, the night becomes my favorite time of day. Practicing self-care each night before bed is something that drives me throughout my day. Here are a few easy things I try to do every night.

Watch your favorite TV show

You deserve a laugh. Watch the comfort show that will make you happy falling asleep. I am a big fan of Friends

Take a shower to relax you

Showers are great for calming down and getting you ready for bed. You will feel clean and your body will be relaxed.

Read a book

Whether it is being on Zoom or scrolling through TikTok all day, your eyes need a break from electronics. Take a phone break and crack open that hard-copy book you have always wanted to read.

Paint your nails

Painting my nails is one of my favorite “me-time” things to do. It gives me that fresh manicure feeling. Who does not like the look of pretty, clean hands?

Do a deep cleanse on your face

Exfoliate, cleanse, moisturize. Do that 15-step face care routine that you normally rush through. Take your time, even do a face mask, and give your skin some TLC.

Clean your room

Declutter, declutter, and declutter. Putting on your favorite tunes and cleaning your room can make you feel more organized. It is satisfying to tidy up everything. Don’t forget to take out your trash at the end too.

Make tea

I am not a huge tea person, but my roommates love to drink it when we watch movies at night. Chamomile is one of the better teas I have tried and it relaxes me before bed. If you have not tried this flavor yet, give it a shot.

Go to bed on time

Sleeping for eight hours is essential for your body. Two hours before bed, turn the TV off and put your phone away. This will make you  feel refreshed and ready for the day in the morning.

Stretch

Stretching is another great way to relax your body before bed. If you are unfamiliar with stretching, you can look on  Youtube for someone who can lead you.

Take some YOU time. You deserve it
