This Cafe is a Vegan, Gluten-Free Dream

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

Being vegan or gluten-free (or both) can make it incredibly difficult to find food to eat, especially when it comes to sweets. Those with these dietary restrictions or allergies know the struggle of having to skip out on dessert. I love food, so I am always on the lookout for new options since I have celiac, and try to make as many vegan choices as I can. This time, I have found the ultimate vegan and gluten-free dream cafe! Annie O Love’s Cafe of Sweet Abundance is entirely gluten-free and vegan. Yes, you read that correctly, ENTIRELY.

Annie O Love’s Cafe of Sweet Abundance was started by Annie, who is often referred to as “The Cookie Dealer” (she even has reusable stickers on her products that say “I heart my cookie dealer”). Annie’s business started at farmer’s markets but later grew to be a cafe of her own. The cafe itself has an adorable facade with dripping chocolate and cookies painted on it.

Annie O Love’s is located in West Ashley, a quick drive from downtown Charleston. If you do not have a way to get there, they do ship products on their website, including pints of their delicious vegan chick’n and granola. They have breakfast, lunch, and lots of treats. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am – 8 or 9 pm. My personal favorites are the Chick’n and Waffles, something very classic to the south that is never available gluten-free or vegan, and the Strawberry Cheesecake. Check out their Instagram to see pictures of their lovely creations and amazing videos of the staff making the food.

Even if you are not vegan or gluten-free, the food here is delicious, and there are so many great reasons to limit your animal product consumption. Go try Annie O Love’s!
