Devacurl is a curly hair product that has been popular among many curly girls for years. For some it was a holy grail product until recently. In the past couple months, many users have reported that their curl patterns were becoming looser. And their hair getting brittle and dry. For some curly heads, it takes years for your hair to become the way you want it. Hundreds of Devacurl users said that it was Devacurl products that made their scalp itchy and dry, leaving their hair frizzy and unmanageable.
A popular Youtuber named AyeshaMalik, was a big Devacurl influencer. She was one of the faces of the products and heavily urged people to use it. She recently came out with a video titled ‘Why I stopped Using Devacurl” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuo8UCcyDhg She explains how she used to love the products,but overtime noticed her hair was not the way it used to be. Her beautiful curls were not frizzy and barely had a pattern to it. For many, hair is an identity, and having your hair not the way you want is hard.
There is a Facebook group with over 23,000 members, all using Devacurl and all experiencing the same discomfort. Devacurls social media sites are all flooded with users wanting refunds and getting angry at the company. Turns out the company changed the formula back in November 2019. Devacurl has been sweeping this under the rug by deleting many people’s purchase history and not responding to complaints. There have been many petitions to end Devacurl or even urging them to change back their formula.
