Neil Desai SAR ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Name: Neil Desai
Hometown: Providence, Rhode Island
Class: 2015
Major: Human Physiology
Relationship Status: Single

HC: Are you involved in any clubs at BU?
ND: I’m the freshman class representative for the Boston University Hip Hop Stans group, but that’s about it right now.

HC: What are some of your interests and hobbies?
ND: My current interests are listening to music (mostly hip-hop, jazz, soul), producing music, walking around the city with friends, browsing record shops, watching movies, and meeting new people on campus.

HC: Tell us about Dayspired. How did it start?
ND: Dayspired started back in the summer of 2010 after my friend Matt and I both connected on similar types of music, mainly hip-hop and different instrumental music that’s not really mainstream. I think it came to a point that we had listened to so much music that we wanted to make music. I guess that’s how it all started.
In addition to getting more exposure, I really want to pursue more live recording and learn to DJ. I’ll probably pick up sax or acoustic bass this summer.

HC: What one song describes your life? ND: That’s really tough! Maybe “Stay the Same” by Bonobo and Andreya Triana. The meaning behind the lyrics basically says stay open minded, keep your head up, and follow what you think is right. Definitely a good reminder when I’m down. The mood of the song is so relaxed too.

HC: How would you describe your personality in three words?
ND: Calm, friendly, and introspective?

HC: What are some of your guilty pleasures?
ND: Some of my guilty pleasures.. hmmm. Probably stealing pineapples from late night in Myles. Hopefully none of the late night staff is reading this! But seriously, stolen pineapples taste even sweeter than ordinary ones.

HC: What is your dream job?
ND: Probably to be a goofy sports commentator like Charles Barkley. He gets to have all the fun and just watch basketball for a living.
