Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas

Have you become overwhelmed with finals, totally forgetting that the holidays are now days away? Surely, you are not alone. Don’t fret – it’s not too late to get gifts for everyone on your list.

There’s a common misconception that late minute gifts are impersonal and thoughtless. Just because you’re short on time and might have been sidetracked by finals doesn’t mean that your gifts have to be lame or haphazardly thrown together. Here are some ideas that your friends and family are sure to love.

1. Tickets

Get them tickets to a play, movie, concert or sporting event that you two can go to together! This requires a bit of thought, but not that much time. Check websites like Stub Hub for last-minutes listings at cheap rates.

2. Homemade dinner

This one is perfect for your parents or significant other. Take to Pinterest and devise a menu made up of delicious recipes they’ll adore. Set up creative place settings too for a festive touch! This is such a thoughtful idea that won’t empty your bank account or take hours to make.

3. Gift card

Okay, okay, hear me out. Gift cards are notorious for being impersonal gifts. However, pairing the gift card with something they can use along with it. For example, give a decorative coffee mug or teacup along with a gift card from their favorite coffee shop. This one is perfect for someone you do not know too well, but need to get a gift for. A gift card is the gift that keeps on giving!

4. Pajama set

Pajama sets are an adorable option for your roommates, mothers, cousins or sisters! Gift them a cute pair of button down pajamas or long johns. They are perfect for a movie night by the fire (you can even throw in some popcorn and a chick-flight DVD, too!)

5. Anything from the book store

You can never have too much terrier pride! Before heading home for winter break, and hit the bookstore for some BU swag for the entire family. Everyone likes a coffee mug or t-shirt with Rhett on it, right?

Wrapping your gifts are half of the fun. We may not judge a book by it’s cover, but sure do judge a present by its packaging. Invest in some festive wrapping paper and bows, or if you’re really short on time, some fancy bags and tissue paper!
