For the past few weeks I have been looking for a new TV show to binge, and last week my friend Jane (shout out to Jane!) told me that I should watch The Haunting of Bly Manor. To be completely honest, I was not down at all because I hate scary shows and dolls freak me out — both are important aspects of this show.

Against my original plans, I decided to test out the show and watch the first episode. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. While it still does have that spooky Halloween feel, it’s not as scary as I originally thought.

The scares have been more drawn out than jump-in-your-bed-and-spill-your-snack scary. It also allows me to feel like I am more in the Halloween spirit than I actually am. I am also one of those people who repeatedly watch the same shows over and over again, aka Criminal Minds, and now I feel like I can actually talk about a current show with other people (this might be such a bad reason to watch a show, but it works for me lol).

If you’re like me and scares really don’t sit well with you, then this might be a “scary” show that you can handle. While I still have not finished the show, I am planning on doing it this week, and I do recommend it.

Even though I have heard the ending is confusing/a cliffhanger, I am excited to see how the first season finishes and if there will be more!
