Guide to Mixing Jewelry

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

1.Don’t be afraid to mix metals

The easiest way to blend silver and gold is with rings. Brandy Melville (located on Newbury Street) sells really simple stackable rings that you can collect and recombine for different looks. Get them in different colors (like silver, gold, and bronze) and mix and match for any outfit.

2.Add a pop of color

The easiest way to tie jewelry together is to have a common color pop (try turquoise or light pink). Using one bright color instantly unites the different metals and connects the different types of jewelry you’re wearing.

3.Layer

Wearing too many pieces of jewelry at once can clash and look overwhelming, but if done right, it’s edgy and takes your style to a new level. Buy bracelets and rings that have similar color tones, and simple designs. Nothing has to match exactly, just make sure that the styles you choose aren’t too distracting. When stacking bracelets and/or rings, keep your outfit simple so that the jewelry is the focal point.
