Grace’s Playlist for When You are Feeling: Right Person, Wrong Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

I am back with another “Grace’s Playlist for When You are Feeling:____.”This week, I have created a playlist focused on the feeling of right person, wrong time. They say that timing is half the battle, and these ten tracks reflect the feeling of bad timing.

“The 1”: taylor swift

The track is perfect for any playlist about the feeling of the right person, wrong time. This song off Swift’s album folklore focuses on reminiscing about a past relationship. With lyrics like “If one thing had been different, would everything be different today?” this song fits perfectly with the other songs on this list about right person, wrong time.

Taylor Swift folklore
Republic
“imagine”: ariana grande

This is one of my all-time favorite Ariana Grande songs. It is all about imagining and romanticizing a relationship that did not work out or cannot happen again. Grande’s vocals make this track a memorable addition to this list.

“outside”: zayn

I am a big fan of Zayn’s music and love many of the tracks off his most recent album Nobody is Listening. This track is about a relationship that is on the brink of failing. Zayn sings about different moments of this relationship and how he thought that the relationship would work out.

“single”: the neighborhood

This track is one of my favorite The Neighborhood songs. Lead singer Jesse Rutherford sings about still having feelings for someone from his past. He spends the song pining for the love interest.

“come back…be here”: taylor swift

“Come Back…Be Here” is one of the most underrated Taylor Swift songs. This track is about starting a relationship right before the love interest is leaving the city they are both in. Swift’s detailed lyrics paint a picture of a budding relationship that is already dealing with the consequences of long distance.

“happier”: olivia rodrigo

“Happier” is one of the more petty songs of Rodrigo’s debut album Sour. In this track, she sings about hoping that her former love interest is happy in their new relationship but not as happy as they were with her.

“’tis the damn season”: taylor swift

I also think that this track is a very underrated Taylor track. This song is all about someone reconnecting with a former love interest from their hometown. The lyrics highlight the fleeting and doomed nature of this relationship.

“amnesia”: 5s0s

I had to add a throwback to this playlist. I am a huge fan of 5SOS, and this track is one of their most popular. The band uses this song to discuss a failed relationship that they wish they could forget the details of.

“you were good to me”: jeremy zucker and chelsea cutler

This track is one of the most sweet yet heartbreaking tracks on this list. Zucker and Cutler sing about a relationship that ended, but they are still able to acknowledge the positives of the relationship. This song is perfect if you want to reminisce about a relationship or friendship that did not work out but not due to anything specific or negative.

“forever”: lewis capaldi

Lewis Capaldi writes the best yearning/pining songs, and this track is no different. This also happens to be my favorite song of his. He sings about seeing a former love interest and how their relationship was never meant to be a forever thing.

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s playlist and add some of these tracks to your own playlists!
