When I think of fall the first thing that comes to my mind is the color changing leaves and the cold weather finally setting in, sweater weather if you will. One of my favorite things to do in the colder weather is to sit inside with a good book and some tea (or hot chocolate/coffee if that’s your vice). This fall so many good books have come out, or are coming out. Here are five books that I have already ordered and am excited to read this fall, and you should as well!

The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

First off, this a book that I could not be more excited to read: The Testaments by Margaret Atwood. I read The Handmaid’s Tale freshman year of high school and when the television series came out about it, I was ecstatic. If you are into feminist or futuristic literature, then this book is a definite must-read. But since this is the second book in the series, I would suggest reading the first one, or watch the first season of the show if you want the quicker option!

The Girl Who Lived Twice by David Lagercrantz

Another book if you love series and or books with movies to match is The Girl Who Lived Twice. The book is an addition the Millenium series, which features The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and has two movies to go along with it. These novels are really easy to get into if you like mystery or crime; I do and I am so excited to read this next book. The Girl Who Lived Twice is written by a new author since the author who started the series died in 2004. But, it still continues the storyline and gives a new twist!

Know My Name by Chanel Miller

This next book is something that I think everyone should definitely read. It’s the story of a woman named Chanel Miller, known for years as Emily Doe. In all honesty, I don’t think I could write something as well as how this novel is described on the back cover “Know My Name will forever transform the way we think about sexual assault, challenging our beliefs about what is acceptable and speaking truth to the tumultuous reality of healing. It also introduces readers to an extraordinary writer, one whose words have already changed our world. Entwining pain, resilience, and humor, this memoir will stand as a modern classic.” This novel is something that not just college-aged people should read, everyone should. This memoir is based on a case that shaped our generation, and a lot of people’s minds. Chanel Miller coming forward is something that helped so many other women feel like now they had the strength to do and I believe reading her book will continue this cycle that has only just begun.

Permanent Record by Edward Snowden

This next novel is high on the list mainly because of the fact that Snowden is one of my all-time favorite movies. Over this past summer, I read a book written about Edward Snowden and I wish I knew that he was writing a book about himself cause then I honestly, I would have probably waited to read this first, but oh well. I am super excited to read this and if you have any interest in government, I would suggest reading this as well.

The Night Fire by Michael Connelly

This book I honestly don’t know much about, but it seems to be something right up my ally. A mystery/crime book is always something that I will read. I did order this book a month ago and it’s still on pre-order, so I am very much hoping that it is worth the wait!

I hope I was able to add to your “Need to Read” list! These books are just a few recommendations that I think are 100% worth reading!
