Five Crafty Ideas for Big/Little Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

If you’re in a sorority, you know that big/little week means stepping up your DIY game. Whether you’re going to be decorating your little’s room for the week or just want to craft cute pieces for them, we have five ideas that will inspire you—especially if you’re on a budget and want to do most of the work yourself.

1. Personalized wooden letters

Mini wooden letters like this are both fun and easy to make. You can personalize them anyway you want, whether its using markers or paint, or adding anything from flowers to glitter. Small wooden letters can be found at your local craft store and will be a perfect addition to your little’s room, allowing her to rep her letters too!

2. Mason jars filled with your little’s favorite candy

If you want to leave your little a treat, there’s no cuter way to do it than in a mason jar.  You can fit their favorite go-to candy into the jar perfectly, making for a colorful way to store their goodies. Decorate the jar with some string or ribbon and you’re good to go. And as a plus, they’re inexpensive and reusable!

3. DIY banner

If you want to make a DIY banner to decorate your little’s room, all you need is paper, string, and a little bit of glue. To personalize your banner, you can use any color paper you want, decorate it, and even write a message on it. This idea will make you seem like a crafting pro, even if you aren’t!

4. Quote canvas using magazine cut-outs

If you have a lot of old magazines you don’t want anymore, we have a perfect way you can recycle them—making a quote canvas for your little! To do this, all you need to do is trace letters onto old magazine pages, cute them out, and glue them onto a canvas. You can use any quote you want, even a saying that is meaningful to your sorority. Although this may take you a little while, it’s great to hang on your little’s wall and totally worth the hard work.

5. Pictures for your little

If you have a bunch of pictures you want to give your little, this is a great way to do it. All you need string, clips, and pictures of you and your little! Not only will your little love all the pictures, but also, hanging pictures like this can spice up a boring wall in your little’s room or dorm.
