This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Whether you’re from the other side of the world or just a few hours from home, everyone can experience homesickness. It’s really nothing to be ashamed of. After all, for many people, it’s your first time away from home. Sometimes, you may not even realize you’re feeling homesick. Here are some of the symptoms.

1. Feeling lonely and isolated from other people who seem to be having fun

 2. Constantly thinking about home

 3. Isolating yourself in your room

 4. Going through all your photos with family and friends

5. Messaging all your friends at once and staring at your phone for a response

6. Craving home-cooked meals

 7. Decreased motivation

8. Feeling like you have nothing secure to hold onto

 9.  Feeling physically sick

And if you find that more than a few of these signs apply to you, don’t worry about it. Check out this guide to help you get through your bout of homesickness.
