5 Starbucks Favorites You Can Make at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

If you’re like me you love experimenting in the kitchen. One of the easiest and most fun things to make are definitely recreations of Starbucks drinks. Once you have the basics down (boiling water, using a coffee maker, and frothing milk using a blender) everything else becomes so simple. Here are 5 of my favorite Starbucks drinks that are easy to make at home. These recipes can be altered in any way. Once you know how to make one frappaccino, you can switch out the ingredients to make all of your Starbucks favorites–same with lattes. All of these drinks are delicious and are worth trying at home at least once.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

1 cup of Milk

Peppermint candies or Starbucks Peppermint Syrup

1 Packet of Hot Chocolate Mix

Whipped Cream (Optional)

Shaved Chocolate (Optional)

Directions:

1.  Crush Peppermint Candies or add Starbucks Peppermint Syrup into your milk. (Do this to your taste.)

2.  Steam milk and candy mixture on medium heat. Continue stirring until peppermint is melted. If you would like extra chcolate-y goodness, you can add some shaved chocolate as well.

    3. Strain milk mixture to make sure that no chunks of peppermint are left at the bottom.

    4. Mix milk and peppermint mixture with your hot chocolate mix.

5.  Top with whipped cream, shaved chocolate or a peppermint stick.

Alternative: Switch out Chocolate Syrup and Chocolate Chips for Starbucks Java Chip ice cream. Use less ice if you’re doing it with ice cream instead. You can still add chocolate syrup and chocolate chips if you want an extra kick of chocolate.

Directions:

1.  Add ice, coffee, milk, and chocolate syrup to a blender. Blend until all of the ice is crushed.

2.  Add chocolate chips into blender, and blend for a few more seconds. Try counting until 15 mississippi.
