The 5 Best Fashion Blogs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Whether we are experiencing a fashion crisis or are in search of inspiration, the fashion gurus of the world have the answers to our frustrations. They are the ingenious innovators who give us impeccable ensembles, and the enthusiasm to dig through our once seemingly monotonous wardrobes that are now teeming with potential possibilities. Through online blogs, these fashion gurus can reach millions of people. From seasonal style tips, to information on how to rock a “Gucci-inspired” (but not Gucci priced) look, these blogs articulate the nitty gritty nuances of fashion, each with their own unique voice and style. Here are my picks of favorite fashion blogs to check out, including both established and up-and-coming fashionistas:

1.     Cupcakes and Cashmere

Founded by blogger Emily Schuman in 2008, Cupcakes and Cashmere is just as sweet as it sounds. The blog not only features fashion tips for every season, but also includes beauty stylings, décor tips, artful DIY projects, and scrumptious food recipes; including ones for pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes and (of course) oodles of cupcakes. Schuman plays with classic, flirty and bohemian styles to create outfit options for nearly every occasion. Her genuine writing style and achievable looks have garnered mass readership for her refreshingly creative blog. Schuman has even partnered with Coach to design a limited edition pastel handbag. Although she is no novice to the fashion scene, having interned at places like Teen Vogue and Domino magazines, Schuman embodies a particular down-to earth vibe and accessibility to readers.

2.     Man Repeller

As its title suggests, this quirky site is unparalleled in the blogosphere. Founder Leandra Medine, the self-proclaimed “man repeller” herself, embraces a unique style inspired by the clothes many women deem fabulous but men deem “unsexy.” Medine has been known to don funky heels and gaucho pants in a way that still manages to appear effortlessly chic. Her blog features various categories including fashion, style, beauty, shopping, humor, and pop culture. Medine’s extremely witty and often humorous persona makes her writing distinct from many other fashion bloggers. The site not only keeps readers up to date on the latest high fashion trends, but also includes information on how to achieve wearable runway ensembles. From a woman who doesn’t take herself too seriously and advocates wearing what makes you feel good, we can definitely learn thing a two from Medine, not only about fashion but about life as well.

3.     Viviere Bella

A native LA girl who moved to New York, Amy Marietta’s style is a mix between beach-y Californian and Italian chic (a tribute to the founder’s roots). The blog is laden with countless photos of stylish outfits set against colorful NYC backdrops, including gratified city walls and towering skyscrapers. Marietta’s eclectic style has even landed her collaborations with various major fashion brands, including BEBE, Dolce and Gabana, Guess, and Club Monaco. And if that wasn’t enough inspiration for you, Viviera Bella accompanies each outfit shoot with a song and quote of the day.

4.     The Style Line

The Style Line is a street style blog that features fashionistas from all over the world. Founder Rachel Schwartzmann incorporates this wide array of styles to create a haven of creativity for readers and contributors alike. Drawing inspiration from the community rather than celebrity, Style Line connects fashion lovers with interesting stories in interesting locations. From New York City to Paris, The Style Line highlights the freshest styles of fashionistas from across the globe. The site has over 455,000 readers to date.

5.     Eat.Sleep.Wear.

Fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger Kimberly Pesch brings us Eat.Sleep.Wear. This blog is a great way to find about the hottest runway trends and discover outfit inspiration. Pesch’s looks are reflective of the modern, clean designs she utilizes as a graphic designer. So if you’re searching for inspiration that is classic yet simple, look no further than Eat.Sleep.Wear. From her artsy photos to mod style, the blog is overflowing with ideas to develop your own ensembles. The blog’s simple three-word mantra is something many readers can attest to and live by, for fashion is truly as necessary as eating or sleep.
