Winter Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

The holiday spirit is in the air! People are humming their favorite Christmas tunes, decorations are being hung around campus, and ugly sweater parties have begun. With that in mind, winter break is right around the corner. With nearly a month off, we can’t help to think of all the great things we have time to do now! But what exactly should you do this winter break? Here’s the Bryant Her Campus 2014 Winter Break Bucket List:

  • Play in the snow
New England is pretty notorious for getting an ample amount of snow in the winter. So if you’re in the area this is perfect for you. You’re never too old to enjoy an afternoon in the snow, build a snowman, make a snow angel, create a snow fort and have a snowball fight. Grab your friends and unleash your inner child. Then warm up with a hot cup of coco.

  • “Catch up”
After all the stress of studying for finals; take this time to catch up on your sleep. Have a “lazy” day and stay in your pjs watching your favorite movies for hours on end. Catch up with your high school friends you haven’t seen in months. This is the perfect time to fill in each other on your crazy college experiences. Also seeing as it’s the holiday season, spend some quality time with your family members. See what’s new in their life and tell them about yours.

  • Winter Sports
Strap on those ice skates, get out your skis, find your snowboard, pull out your sled! It’s time to enjoy winter sports. Whether you’re a pro or just a beginner, go out there on the ice or the slopes and have fun! The rush of going down the mountain can be exhilarating and just want you need to leave behind the past semester.

  • Hit all the “after Christmas” sales
Does this even need an explanation? Who doesn’t love a good sale? After Christmas stores mark down their items at great discounts. So head on over to the mall and shop away, you can never have too much clothes!

  • Ring in the New Year
5, 4, 3, 2, 1! 2013 is coming to a close, so gather all your friends together, pour a glass of champagne, and kick off a new year the right way. Whether you go into the city or stay home to watch the ball drop, think back to all the great memories you’ve this past year and look forward to all the great times you’ll have in 2014! And although many New Year’s resolutions last about a week, this year make small attainable goals that are realistic. It’ll be a great way to begin the year and you’ll feel accomplished, giving you more confidence in yourself.

  • Volunteer
Many of us are fortunate enough to enjoy the holiday with gifts from loved ones and nice home cooked meals. Keep in mind, not everyone is able to have this luxury. So this winter break, allocate a little bit of your time to others in need. Donate unwanted items or a toy to families that cannot afford gifts. Work in a soup kitchen to make hot meals for those that are hungry. Doing something for others will be worthwhile and will make your winter break meaningful.
